Engis Diamond Dressing Blocks for Grinding Aerospace Superalloys

Diamond Dressing Blocks from Engis are a simple and economical way to turn a standard surface grinder into an automatic form grinder for finishing the root of jet engine turbine blades and vanes without the expense associated with rotary diamond dressing rolls.

When grinding heat-sensitive high-end nickel alloys it is important to not generate high heat that can damage or deform the part. Frequent or continuous dressing of the grinding wheel not only enables the ability to consistently hold extremely tight tolerances and forms, but it also keeps the wheel sharp for much freer and increased stability in the process.

Engis has extensive experience in producing Dressing Blocks for many of the commonly used components in commercial and defense aircraft engines. Form tolerances of +/-.005mm and radius as small as .012mm can be consistently held and, depending upon the wheel used, ability to achieve surface finish better than #4 / 20-30Ra.
